dear daughters (an engagement story)
It was just a regular Tuesday.
Will drank coffee on the front porch.
But I smiled real big and told him it was better to wait inside.
So our family, along with Mimi and Papa, sat inside and waited and waited.
Finally, two little love birds rang the doorbell.
We threw open the doors and I grabbed my girl.
For twenty-two years we prayed for this young man and then on a regular Tuesday it happened.
Oh … my teeny tiny baby girl is engaged.
Unspeakable joy. And all the feels.
His name is David. He loves God and he loves our Sara.
Why even my husband (who hates giving away his daughters) is pretty excited.
Kenton was kind enough to cart Will 3 and Amy around via Skype since they live in Denver.
They were right in the middle of it even though they lives hundreds of miles away.
Technology is such a gift.
Just look at that big brother and his cute little wife listening to her story.
I grabbed the camera from our Emily who took all these lovely photos so she could finally hug her baby sister.
Oh gracious yes, it’s really happening.
And then Mimi gets a hug.
And Papa gets a hug.
We sat around and listened as David told us all about how he took Sara to The Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls for dinner then drove to a special spot at sunset and dropped down on one knee.
Then it was off to the lake house where friends waited.
Doesn’t his face say it all? He did it!
They did it.
They are engaged.
The sweetest friends cheered and celebrated.
And oh yes, the ring, of course.
It was kind of a magical night for just being a Tuesday.
Oh, y’all. Sara is engaged to David.
And yes, we already warned him we’re kinda crazy. At least he knows some of what he’s getting into …
PS. Can’t get enough of this? Head over to Emily’s photo website for even more at emilyboone.com (and get her to capture your happy moments too ;)
PPS. Will 3 and Amy recorded a portion of the Skype session … you can watch it on my Facebook page if you don’t mind hearing me squeal with uncensored joy here.
