free stuff: popovers
Many moons ago, I experienced homemade popovers for the first time. It was a pastry epiphany.
Soon thereafter, I rushed to the store to buy a popover pan so I could continue to make homemade popovers for my family. I bought two pans ~ and I have only ever used one.
So today, I am gifting the unused pan to you. Because popovers are fabulous. Everybody should have the chance to bake some at home ~ and pull them out of the oven fresh and delicious.
This giveaway is all part of a little something crazy I am doing this month. I’m joining over a thousand other women at Nesting Place by taking part in a 31 day series.
My month-long series is called:
31 days of enough … and you get free stuff
{I blame my husband & his book for all the madness}
Now, I really wish I could make this fail proof recipe and walk them next door to you.
Easy Ethereal Popovers
1 T unsalted butter (and extra for greasing the pan) * 2 large eggs * 1 cup flour * 1/2 t salt * 1 1/4 c milk
Preheat the oven to 450, and thoroughly grease the pan. Melt the tablespoon of butter and set it aside to cool slightly.
Break the eggs into a bowl and whisk gently. Then stir in the flour, salt, milk and melted butter until just barely blended; a few lumps are fine. (Note: At this point, we threw in a handful of grated cheddar cheese just for fun. It proved to be a good choice!!)
Fill the cups 2/3 to 3/4 full, and bake at 450 for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temp to 350 and bake an additional 20 minutes. (No peeking! Opening the oven door in the first 20 minutes can cause them to collapse.)
When they are brown and crusty, remove them from the oven, and make a small slit in their sides with a sharp knife. Serve immediately, or return to turned-off oven. Makes 6 to 10 popovers.
But since I can’t … I was thinking maybe if you win the pan, you could bake up a fresh batch and take them to your neighbors.
Wouldn’t that be a treat? For you, your neighbors (and for me :)?
To enter to win, answer this question:
What’s one of the nicest things your neighbors have done for you?
