Good News Austin: Top Notch

Top Notch, the brave 70’s stand-out on Burnet Road, is having an extravaganza you’ll want to take advantage of … we’re talking live music, food specials, completely Austintacious. Details here: [audio:https://susiedavis.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/gna_topnotch_aug22-44100-Hz.mp3|titles=gna_topnotch_aug22 (44100 Hz)]

Though I wonder if the event might be a little bittersweet because recently, Top Notch founder Frances Stanish, lost her battle to cancer.  Frances took my order tons of times: Cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, pickles, tomato and mayo. Sweet lady. Hard-working to the end. About a year ago, she sold Top Notch to new owners and the good news is ~ they have done everything possible to make sure that this hamburger joint keeps flipping fabulous burgers and maintains it’s groovy 70’s vibe. The same vibe that Richard Linklater sought and found while filming Dazed and Confused at Top Notch. You can catch Matthew McConaughey in a scene here and read all about it. But mainly, I suggest you get to Top Notch and try a cheeseburger. With okra. Amen.
