guide me

Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me.

Dear God … as usual my mind is racing. With my enormous list of things to do. Looking ahead, ever ahead at the day set before me. Thinking it’s all mine. To plan out and execute.

I’m stopping to confess that today is yours. Every single second. A gift from your hand. And I’m asking for your light and truth to guide me.

Keep me from saying yes to every request. From trying to please people instead of pleasing you. Instead, give me the guts to say no. To disappoint when necessary. Walking only where you lead.

And God, give me strength to walk where you shine the light when it’s difficult. In conflict and in peace with equal abandon. Wherever you please.

Today is yours. And so am I.
