Happy Hour Austin: Mizu {Lakeway}
Roxanne is at it again! More happy times and happy hour reviews. This week, it’s a little getaway treat in Lakeway … just minutes from Austin.
I ventured out of downtown Austin for this week’s happy hour excursion. There are so many great Austin eateries but sometimes the happy hour destination is all about meeting your friends where it’s convenient for them. For me, that meant Lakeway – for a little girl time with my friend, Jaime.
Jaime, the Queen of Point of Origin (if you’ve never been there, make a trip asap!), doesn’t often have the opportunity to venture out of the Lakeway bubble, so I gladly headed her way … that’s what friends do, right?
Fortunately for us, there are amazing happy hour locations for a little fun in Lakeway, like Mizu.

Mizu is known for their sushi and specials. Monday nights feature half off sushi rolls. Thursday is Ladies Night with a half-off lounge menu, and that just scratches the surface of the great deals. (Minor disclaimer: Mizu is quite particular about their lounge vs. dining room specials. So be prepared – it’s part of their charm.)
Mizu has a wonderful steakhouse look and feel but it should be known for its’ outdoor view! Hands down, Mizu has one of the best views in Austin. We dined and dished as we took in Austin from the West … so beautiful. The world stopped for a moment. I was able to relax and enjoy the good company, amazing scenery and tasty treats – an instant getaway!
Let’s talk treats. Truth be told I don’t eat sushi, but I do think it is a beautiful work of art. Here is my non-fish suggestion: the Bao Bun– delicious Asian BBQ steak in a sweet bread bun.
If you love sushi, don’t leave without the McLovin Sr. Yes, that is what it’s called. Not only does Jaime love it – McLovin is a best seller. The McLovin features spicy crab salad, grilled poblano, avocado, pepper tuna, cilantro, balsamic, and spicy mayo. I dare you and your girlfriends to ask for the McLovin! Do it, you won’t be disappointed.
If you want a fun spirit to cool you down, try the Mizu Blood Orange Margarita: Sweet, frozen and refreshing.
See you soon in Lakeway!
