How to be a grateful, ‘half-full’ kind of person …

Yesterday, I got a chance to speak to a fine group of folks about gratitude. Every time I have the chance to talk about being thankful, I realize I need to think on it more and more. To keep things in perspective. Here’s a little something from the talk on how to be a grateful, ‘half-full’ kind of person …

Don’t be dominated by your feelings

This is a big one for me right now. Probably because I’m extra tired ~ and my feelings have been all over the map since we’ve been in helping mode. The problem with feelings is that they’re so stinkin’ transitory. And they don’t always tell the truth. This week, when my feelings rush to the surface all whiny and ungrateful ~ I haven’t had to look very far for perspective. To slap those silly things back where they belong and live in reality … not lala land.

Remember people are the #1 priority

What did people grab when they needed to get out of their house fast because of the fires? People. They grabbed their people ~ the #1 priority. Not  trinkety thing-a-ma-doosNot ambition (that can be a whore). People are priority one.

Focus on the obvious, everyday beauty in life …

This morning, I’ll get outside. And I’ll get outside my anxiety ~ my worries for the week. I’ll remember that some One woke up early this morning …

Today, I’ll remember I have so much to be thankful for … and I’ll say grace.
