how to make people feel special
After the service at church Saturday night, a special someone walked up to me as I was leaving and handed me a cup full of roses from her garden. She just smiled and said thank you for the message and gave me these.
Her small gesture reminded me how big kindness feels.
I have so enjoyed the roses. I have moved them about the house, took pictures of them and always, ever thought about Tricia’s simple thoughtfulness.
I want to make people feel special. And important. Like Tricia made me feel. I need to be better at this. To slow down and think about ways to be actively compassionate.
To extend an invitation. Make a phone call. Take a meal. Or simply show up with flowers. :)
It doesn’t need to be anything huge. Just a small something … that makes a big impact.
Mark Twain said, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Yes, I agree. Kindness is transcendent.
What has someone done for you lately that made you feel special?
Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on; ’twas not given for thee alone, pass it on; Let it travel down the years, let it wipe another’s tears, till in heaven the deed appears, pass it on. ~ Henry Burton
