it’s the perfect day to make someone’s day …

Someone celebrated 83 years of living yesterday. Yep. That would be ‘the real Will Davis’ ~ sitting here next to his son (and my husband), Will Davis, Jr.

As it’s customary in our family to affirm the birthday boy or girl … after dinner, we took time to sit and tell ‘Gdad’ how much we love and appreciate him.

Words whirled around … thank you for being such a great role model … thank you for loving Mimom so well … thank you for teaching me what integrity looks like … thank you for making me feel safe and protected … thank you for giving us the cabin and a love of the mountains … lots of words filled that space last night.

And this morning, I was reminded how important it is to tell people how you feel about them. Especially those living closest to you. The ones who day in and day out put up with the worst of you.

Though you might not have a birthday boy or girl in your family today … it’s still the perfect day to make someone’s day. Push past the discomfort, stop worrying about being awkward, and tell them how you feel about them. Say the things they need to hear.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up …
