Every once in a while, I experience it. Yesterday it pounced on me. Unexpected.
I was driving on the Pennybacker Bridge ~ and I glanced out at the glory of Lake Austin. I was overwhelmed by the beauty. The sun was midway in the sky … a delicate fog across the water.
A wave of wonder washed over me: Why did God make everything so beautiful? The lake, the trees, the big blue sky … ?
Then the sun touched my cheek through my window. Tears sprung to my eyes. And it’s then that I wondered aloud: Why did You make everything so beautiful?
The very next thought that flooded my mind was this: If you were the only person on earth, I would have painted it just as pretty.
And then I cried. Because it’s true.
You’ve heard it said by many preachers, “If you were the only person on earth, God would have send His son to die for you.” And that is true. It is also true that if you were the only person on earth, God would have painted the world as pretty ~ just for you.
I really hope you can picture that.
Creation is a love feast ~ set just for you.
