No Fail Biscuits

I’m not sure where I got this biscuit recipe but I’m so glad to have had it on hand this morning because I woke up and realized I had absolutely nothing breakfast worthy in the fridge. No eggs. No meat. Nada. But … I did spy a quart of buttermilk in the back, waiting patient and proud. It was leftover from adventures teaching my friend Roxanne how to make buttermilk pie and nearly at the end of it’s shelf life when I swooped in and grabbed it. I rescued it from worthlessness – it  rescued me from sending my family out the door with cold, dry cereal in hand. Deal.

This recipe is easy, fast & fabulous. The end product is tasty, tender & makes you feel like a breakfast champion.

No Fail Biscuits

2 cups flour * 3/4 t. salt * 3 t baking powder * 1/4 t. soda * 5 T butter or shortening (I use butter) * 1 cup buttermilk

Combine dry ingredients then cut in butter. Mix in buttermilk – then gently pat out on floured surface to 1/2″ thick. Cut biscuits without over manipulating dough. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes.
