The Franklin Favorites
Hi there! I’m Susie Davis – here to let you know about The Franklin Favorites.

There are all kinds of sights to see in Fayette County. Here are our favorites:
- The Round Top Antiques Show – Three times a year (Spring, Fall and Winter), thousands of vendors come to Texas with all their treasures. You’ll find soulful independent venues and pop-up shops along a 17-mile stretch of Texas Highway 237 with antiques, art and vintage items galore!
- Fayette County Courthouse – Be sure to go inside and see the center garden area with fountain and the enormous fig tree! :)
- Thompson Hanson Farms – just the loveliest experiences happen at TH Farms whether botanical dying classes or farm dinners. Check out the workshops and events on the calendar and join the fun.
- Texas Quilt Museum – Stroll on over and be amazed!
- Historic Casino Hall – Built in 1818 and beautifully restored. If you’re on the Franklin front porch, you’ll see Casino Hall to the left.
- The Old La Grange City Library – Built in 1852. The architecture is German “fachwerk,” built by using handmade brick and hand-hewn cedar timbers joined with wooden pegs. Sipping coffee on the Franklin front porch, you’ll see the library to the right.
- The Bugle Boy Listening Room -Less than 5 minutes away with cozy, quiet concerts on Friday and Saturday night.
- The Painted Churches – These treasures need more than a sentence or two to describe, so head on over to a whole podcast episode about the glorious Painted Churches of Fayette County.

Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner / Happy Hour Snacks
- LG Taco Shack – (just one minute down the road) and they serve breakfast from 6 am – 2 pm. These are the BEST!
- Weikel’s Bakery – Go to the grill at the back, ask for Brenda and request a patty down with cheese. Best breakfast sandwich ever! Get there early to pick up pigs in blanket, breakfast tacos and kolaches. Mmmm. Also head back for lunch all the sandwiches and specials! Order online and get 10% off.
- Bodega Wine Market – Great stop for a bottle of wine and a bite to eat. Ask for the cheese soup and tell them Susie sent you.
- Alejandra’s Mexican Grill – Walking distance to The Franklin with the best Tex-Mex food. Try the Campo Nachos with Fajita Chicken.
- Las Fuentes – Fun Tex-Mex with friendly servers.
- Head over to Fayetteville and experience The Wine Bar at Grand Fayette Hotel for a marvelous fine dining experience. Reservations recommended.

REMINDERS for YOUR STAY:
The Franklin is an older home (built in 1904 by one of La Grange’s very first physicians) just a couple blocks from the town square. The address is
348 N. Franklin Street * La Grange, TX * 78945
The house sits on the corner of N. Franklin and E. Fannin St. Pull in the driveway by the carriage house. Enter the back yard through the gate and follow the flagstone path to the back patio. It’s there you’ll enter the house via keyless entry through the kitchen door. You will have a personalized code created just for your stay.

A Few More Things to Know:
- The vintage Chamber Stove has been lovingly restored. Please watch the video below on how to work it properly.
- In every room that has a ceiling fan, there is a remote control. The remote control is what you will use to control the light and fan instead of the wall switches. Please keep each remote in its own room.
- Since the train goes by at unexpected times, we’ve placed a noise maker and portable fan in every bedroom. As well, ear plugs are provided for each guest.
- Reminder: The Franklin is an older home, built in the early 1900’s – and as such, is not a home that we feel would be suitable for children 12 years old and younger. If by chance, you missed the notes are in our description please reach out as soon as possible to discuss.

Be sure to walk to the town square. In addition to the most charming courthouse in Texas, you’ll find several lovely coffee shops and shopping too. While you’re outside, be sure to give a listen for bells.
While you’re at the Franklin we’d be honored for you to share photos on social media. Tag us at @thefranklinlagrange
