Grilled Cheese Fries
Ohmygosh.
I’ve tried grilled cheese croutons in my favorite tomato soup recipe but never grilled cheese ‘fries.’
I was looking for something easy to make for dinner this Sunday and found this recipe cruising around Pinterest. These little guys are amazing. Perfect for dunking in your favorite soup. Just ridiculously happy I found the recipe over at Gouda Monster. I could literally lose myself on her site. Gracious.
Grilled Cheese Fries
6 slices sourdough bread (or another thick, dense bread) * 6 ounces shredded cheese (I used a mix of dill Havarti, sharp cheddar and my all time favorite: BellaVitano Gold) * softened butter
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Grill buttered side in a skillet over medium heat until toasty looking. Move to a cookie sheet, toasted side down.
Turn on broiler. Sprinkle each piece with shredded cheese. Place cookie sheet in oven with door cracked so you can watch and make sure the cheese doesn’t burn. Just takes a minute or two. Remove from oven. Let cool. Slice diagonally. Sprinkle with fresh black pepper.
Of course, you don’t have to make soup just to eat these. How about with a big green salad …
or all by themselves? Yes.
