shauna’s caesar salad
This is really Brannon’s Caesar Salad. That’s what Shauna says in her new book, Bread & Wine.
But every time I made this simple, delicious salad this week, I’ve called it Shauna’s Caesar Salad.
And I’ve made the dressing a lot this week … served the salad about six times. It’s just that good!
So I’ve called it Shauna’s Caesar Salad all week. And it stuck. I hope Brannon doesn’t mind.
Brannon & Shauna’s Caesar Salad :)
1 garlic clove, minced * 1/4 c vinegar * 1/4 c olive oil * 1 t Dijon * dash Tabasco * juice of half a lemon * 1 T grated Parmesan cheese * 1 t sugar
Put all ingredients in a jar ~ shake, shake, shake. Done. Delicious.
In her brand new book, Bread & Wine, Shauna talks about the dressing. She writes, ” … it’s like Caesar and vinaigrette got together and had a baby.” It’s true. This Caesar is light not creamy. No eggs. No anchovies. Just fresh and awesome.
Tossed with romaine, freshly grated Parmesan and some big delicious homemade croutons (recipe for croutons in the book) ~ it’s perfection. And since it only takes about 3 minutes to make, you can whip it up any old time and you’re ready to go …
A while back, I bought a vintage lemon juicer at an estate sale for a quarter. Can I tell you how happy it makes me? Gets more juice out of a lemon than any fancy pants juicer I’ve ever tried.
It makes me equally happy to have this super easy new recipe on hand. Much better and more delicious than some fancy pants store bought dressing.
This salad is terrific with pork, chicken and Kristin’s Plank Grilled Salmon ~ which is what the salad is paired with this week for our 52 Sunday Suppers menu.
Couple little favors?
