4th of July: pie o pie!
Red, white and blue was never so sweet ~ what a perfectly lovely summer time treat.
Yes, this is pie. Pie as pie can be: homemade pastry, strawberries, blueberries and fresh whipped cream in a gorgeous group hug.
As I was thinking about our menu for the 4th, it occurred to me that my all time favorite strawberry pie recipe would make the perfect patriotic pie. It’s already red and white … I just added a little blue.
My daughter, Sara, said the blueberries make this spectacular strawberry pie even better.
All you need to do is use the {French Glaze} Fresh Strawberry Pie recipe posted here
and the No Roll Pie Crust recipe here
and you’re good to go.
Now, you don’t have to use these adorable Weck canning jars but gracious ~ I can’t think of a better way to eat pie outside on 4th of July! It’s so super easy. Just press out the no roll crust into Weck jars. Bake for about 8 minutes at 350 degrees and cool. (I purchased my Weck jars at Crate and Barrel.)
Prep the strawberry glaze and let that cool. Slice some strawberries, make fresh whipped cream and grab some blueberries …
Then when everything’s cooled down and whipped up, you’re ready to go.
Assemble gorgeous group hug.
The great thing about this pie is you can make it ahead, pop it in the fridge and enjoy later.
These little Weck jars have an oh-so-cute top to keep everything in one place. Love that.
And of course, the possibility of pie presentation is endless.
I kept mine simple.
Cause they really do disappear pretty quick.
Happiest 4th of July to you and your family!!
